District Governor Adam’s Post – November 2017
Carol and I wish to thank the clubs that we have visited thus far for their hospitality and enlightenment. We also thank the District Zone Chairs and the club members who attend Zone meetings for their generosity of time and service and for sharing their club’s activities with us. Visits are truly the highlight of being a District Governor.
Those of you who weren’t at 12-N’s Fall Forum missed some great info and a chance to network with your fellow Lions. For those who did attend, please acknowledge the fine work done by GLT Paulette and the instructors. The staff at Walters State and I apologize for having our activities in two different buildings this time. Nonetheless, this is the best meeting venue that we have found and is centrally located, so look to have more activities held here.
Our Second Cabinet Meeting is coming up fast. It will be held at Walters State in Morristown on November 18, 2017 in the Duggins Foundation Room 130. The Cabinet meeting will begin at 9:00 AM and will conclude around 12:00 PM. An abbreviated breakfast will be available 8:15 – 9:00. Lunch will not be provided.
Following the Cabinet Meeting, District 12-N Charities Board will conduct their annual funds distribution budget meeting and will discuss nominations for replacing outgoing Board members to be voted on at the Spring Convention business meeting on February 24, 2018. Lunch will be provided for Board members during the November 18th meeting.
A follow-up meeting regarding membership extension and retention will follow the conclusion of the Charities Board meeting. It is forecast that this meeting will start around 2:15. For those attending this membership meeting, lunch will be provided at 12:15 in Room 130 while the Charities Board meets elsewhere. An agenda will be provided prior to November 18.
Preparation is underway for our District’s Spring Convention to be held February 23 and 24, 2018 at MeadowView Convention Center in Kingsport. Diane Wilkerson, Convention Chair, and I want to cordially invite you and your spouse, friend, or significant other to attend the festivities. We encourage you to register early for the Convention and to make your lodging reservations. In addition, we need volunteers to make it happen as planned. Please contact Diane or me to put your particular skill and interest to work. We appreciate your volunteerism!
It’s that time of year for clubs to gather up the Peace Poster and Essay entries. Choose your First Place winners and bring them to the Cabinet Meeting on November 18, 2017. The District selection committee will pick First, Second, and Third Place winners from the Posters and Essays submitted by the clubs. The District First Place winners will be passed to MD-12 to decide who will compete internationally. There will not be a Photo Contest.
See you at the Cabinet Meeting. Please bring a new member!
