District Governor Adam’s Post – January 2018
Preparations are well underway for our District’s 2018 Convention (February 23rd and 24th). You will find attached (to the News & Views) a copy of the registration form – please fill it out and send it to your 12-N Convention Chair PDG Diane Wilkerson at the address shown on the form. Your early registration will help immensely with planning, so do send the form with your check as early as you are able. If you are willing to help out at the Convention, please let Diane know your interest and your availability before or during the Convention. Please note that the deadline for special pricing on the hotel is February 1.
We are fortunate to have International Director Alan Lundgren and his partner in service Terry Pressel attending our sessions. ID Alan will deliver news from International President Naresh Aggarwal and will provide our keynote address, speaking on the importance of membership growth. He will also recognize several “younger” Lions for their contributions and achievements. At some point in the Convention, we hope to be motivated with his thoughts on the need/ways for members to step up to leadership at all levels in our Association. Please introduce yourself to ID Alan and Terry and welcome them to East Tennessee.
Carol and I continue to visit our 12-N Clubs and we very much enjoy listening as you talk about your service and fundraising projects. We have been pleased to see your interest in our new charitable endeavors: Diabetes and Juvenile Cancer. You will hear more about these initiatives at our Convention. So keep up the good work, thanks for what you do, and please continue to provide funding for White Cane and LCIF.
Please remember to bring your Club’s Public Relations Display Board to the Convention for “show and tell”. It’s never too late to make and begin using this powerful tool in your community. More about the contest in this and the two previous editions of the News & Views.
We also call your attention to the Centennial “Truly Tiny House Sale”. The Tiny Houses provide for two significant causes. One is a donation to help fund LCIF and the other is to celebrate all 101 Presidents of LCI and their leadership in humanitarian service around the world. You will learn more about this project when you get to the Convention, and we promise that it will be fun.
Thanks for all you do for your communities and for your fellow Lions. Your service is important.
