District Governor’s Message – December 2012
Hello Fellow Lions:
The Holidays are upon us. I wish all of you safe journeys to where ever the road leads you and a safe return home. May your Holidays be merry and bright, as the song says. Pray that you will take time to enjoy family and friends and come back to us with a renewed spirit.
If I have not been to visit your club yet, don’t worry I will be there. For those of you whose clubs I have visited, thank you. Thank you for your hospitality and for your service to your community, club and district.
I just want to remind you about the up- coming events in the next couple of months.
- Lions Learning Retreat – January 2013
- District Convention – February 2013
- State Convention – May 2013
- Day with the Lions – May 2013
You can find all the information about the above mentioned events on the district website. I look forward to meeting all of you at these events. I think of the events as a way to meet Lions I have not had a chance to work with. I want to get to know and enjoy their friendship. We need to remember as Lions “We Serve” and we do it with pride. These events help us to renew our spirit by talking and learning from other Lions.
I was reminded the other day of the definition of “Serve”; it means to contribute to the welfare of others. Think about it for a moment. It is NOT about me or you. It is about the welfare of others. Many of your clubs do this very well. I thank you. Remember, according to Cinderella, 1 shoe can make a difference. You are that shoe.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Thanks for all you do!
District Governor Diane Wilkerson
