District Governor Millie’s Memo – January 2021
Dear District 12N Lions,
I hope all of you have had Happy Holidays and are looking forward to 2021. We have now completed the first half of the 2020-2021 Lions year and the Lions in District 12N have exemplified “We Serve” to their communities. You have gone from emerging from a lockdown that has never been experienced before, to carefully testing and finding ways to Safely Serve in this new environment, to coming together as a District Team to participate in an Operation Inasmuch food packing event. A huge Thank-you for doing what you felt safe doing to make this project a success by providing thirty- eight thousand meals to area residents. I am truly inspired by the manner in which the Clubs of District 12 N have rallied and not allowed outside influences to hold them back from helping those in need. You have shown how Helen Keller’s quote “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much” can still work when we all help each other accomplish a common goal. Congratulations to all of you for persevering through a difficult and challenging situation. As you have been seen in your communities helping others you have also gained members.
Looking towards the second half of this Lions year, we have decided to postpone the District Convention until April 9-10, 2021 in the hopes that by then it will be safer to gather. We will be offering some of the Convention virtually for those who do not feel they can safely attend. We really could use some help with this, so if you know people with IT knowledge to help us accomplish this have them contact us. The updated Convention Registration is included in this issue of News & Views and will be posted on the District 12 N website as well. The location is still Best Western Plus in Morristown, TN only the dates and speaker have changed.
Sincerely,
Millie Burke, DG
