District Governor Millie’s Memo – February 2021
Dear District 12N Lions,
As we look to the second half of Lion year 2020-2021, I would like to remind us of a few housekeeping items which will be needing our attention. You may all be way ahead of me and have already started on these and I actually hope this is the case. If you haven’t already done so, your Club should have nominations done in March to be able to have your Officer elections in April. This will allow you to report the Club Officers for 2021-2022 in early May. Before reporting I am respectfully asking that you verify contact information for all of your members, but especially the incoming officers so as to provide an accurate and up to date contact list for the District Directory.
Please see Doug Haseltine’s article on diabetes to see how your club can earn an entry into the Reverse Raffle. Let’s all support him and diabetes awareness. Also let us all help White Cane by selling or buying Reverse Raffle tickets.
You may have heard this already and it is good news to be sure. The LCI Board has voted to extend the waiver of the $35 new member fee and Club Charter fee through June 30, 2021. This is definitely a savings for incoming Lions.
The District 12N Convention will be April 9-10, 2021 and be a hybrid meeting. The registration form is attached. We will be having Officer Training on Sunday April 11, 2021; stay tuned for details.
Please be sure that your Club Secretary or Treasurer pays the Club dues promptly to both LCI and District 12N. Effective December 31, 2021 LCI will put Clubs in suspension if their dues are in arrears three months. We don’t want to see any Clubs in District 12N loose their voting privileges or charter, so please pay your bills when they are due.
Some sad news indeed is that the 2021 International Convention will not be an in-person event due to Covid.
Sincerely,
Millie Burke, DG
