District Governor Keltie’s Post – March 2025
Spring Forward with Service in March,
For Lions Clubs, March is particularly significant because it recognizes “Lions Day at the United Nations”. This day is dedicated to highlighting the work of Lions Clubs global efforts around the world.
March also typically marks the beginning of the Spring season, which brings more sunshine, longer days, warmer weather, flowers bursting forth, and more outdoor activities.
Maybe it’s time to start considering an outdoor community service project that aligns with the Lions global environmental cause. Or maybe Spring Forward with any of your service projects that align with other global causes such as childhood cancer, youth, humanitarian, diabetes education and prevention, vision, disaster relief, or hunger. Also, it would be helpful to spring forward and enter those service hours for all the service projects provided.
We all remember the day that Hurricane Helene tore through our beautiful East Tennessee and left devastation like most could never imagine. This also marked the beginning of Lions heavily engaging in disaster relief activities, which continue as of this newsletter. Lions shopped and delivered supplies to hundreds of families throughout East TN. Also, the “Flood Gates of Donations” started pouring in, which enabled Lions to be “Boots on the Ground” and to Spring into Service Action immediately.
Thank you, Lions, for continuing to support disaster relief activities and service projects, which impact the lives of hundreds of individuals impacted by disasters, whether it’s a hurricane, tornado, or flooding.
Servicing with you,
DG Keltie
