District Governor Keltie’s Post – December 2024
Are the East Tennessee Lions (District 12-N) on Track?
The question is often asked – Are the Lions on track to achieve our goals?
Yes –It’s easy for me to say East Tennessee Lions are on track for implementing new Service Projects. Many Lions continue to respond to the needs of individuals impacted by Hurricane Helene which changed the way of life for hundreds and thousands of our neighbors in Johnson, Carter, Unicoi, Greene and Cocke Counties in Tennessee.
Yes – Lions are on the right pathway of Serving our friends and neighbors. It may be coordinating and assisting in the delivery of another RV camper (this makes 3 and another in process) or providing more supplies such as blankets, heaters, propane, laundry detergent, diapers, sheets, pillows, a mattress and furniture.
Yes – Lions are on track with extraordinary acts of kindness.
Yes – Lions are continuing service projects such as packing lunches for a local ministry, collecting and sorting used eyeglasses that have been donated, cooking a meal for a community gathering, vision screening, collecting plastic bags with the goal of reaching a thousand pounds which will yield a bench for a children’s hospital.
Yes – Lions are on track to celebrate individual and club successes and milestone anniversaries. Most recently, Tellico Village celebrated their 25th year anniversary. Their club has made a significant impact in their community, donating over $950,000 during this time.
Yes – Lions are fundraising to raise money to continue to respond to community needs.
Yes – Lions are working closely with other organizations to help meet community needs, such as Empower of Cocke County.
Yes – Lions are expanding. The Sevierville Senior Center Lions Club Branch launched this month, and they have taken Flight immediately. They are a branch of the Sevier County Lions Club.
Yes – Lions are on track to receive Blessings. It is impossible to measure the hugs, smiles, expressions of Thank Yous and overwhelming gratitude conveyed by recipients of items Lions are providing.
It’s been proven, Together We Can, Lions are Changing the World and Lions of East Tennessee are Making our Mark. The impact of Service projects, just during the aftermath of Helene, is still being measured. However, the results are known immediately when an 81-year-old
gives you a hug and squeezes you tightly and invites you into her new RV home.
I wish you and yours a very blessed Holiday Season – Merry Christmas!
Serving with you – DG Keltie
