District Governor Frank’s Message – September 2023
Plan Your Work, Work Your Plan!
As I walk around the building where I work, it seems like everyday I hear a motivational saying to keep the associates on the right track. The one I like the most is “Plan Your Work, Work Your Plan”. It means in layman’s terms to start and end your day in an organized fashion.
This also applies to how we should operate our Lions Clubs. The overall operation of our clubs should be a big contributing factor to club health. The one thing I would like for every new officer to do is to read the Lions Club Constitution and By-Laws.
“DG Frank, what can I find in the constitution and by-laws that can apply to my club?” For starters you
can find the Mission Statement. ”TO EMPOWER Lions clubs, volunteers, and partners to improve health and wellbeing, strengthen communities, and support those in need through humanitarian service and grants that impact lives globally, and encourage peace and international understanding.”
Also, one of the biggest things that gets clubs in trouble is the use of the Lion’s International Logo. From time to time, we have service projects or fundraisers that we are doing and advertising plays the lead role in making our club known as well as delivering an important message. Only an approved logo may be used. Any other may result in a fine for your club. So let us all do it right the first time. If you do not know, ask and we will direct your club with the correct information.
Another question that arises at officer nomination time is, “what are the duties of the president or treasurer or even secretary”? This is also out-lined in detail in the Constitution and By-Laws and can be very informative. As a district we thrive on new leadership in our clubs, district, or MD-12. The right information can make all the difference in the world.
As District Governor, I will make it my mission to give the clubs the help they need. I want our clubs to strive to be better and attractive. The Constitution and By-laws make a lot of sense and are very helpful. Let us all have a great and successful year.
GOD BLESS YOU!
DG Frank McCall
