District Governor Carol’s Message – June 2020
Roar Lions,
This will be my last post as your District Governor. Would like to have gone out
with a bang but looks like that’s not going to happen. It has been a good year for growing on my part and maybe yours too. It has been a pleasure and an honor to serve you as your District Governor. Thank you for giving me that opportunity.
There are so many people that have been a help to me during this year. I want to start with my DG team, DGE Millie Burke, 1st VDGE Paulette Bailey, Cabinet Secretary Kim Osborne, and Cabinet Treasurer Chuck Bailey.
At least every other week DGE Millie, 1st VDGE Paulette and I would keep in touch regarding events and future plans. I can’t thank them enough for helping to keep me organized and on time. I’m very forgetful and that was a chore I’m sure they won’t miss.
District Secretary Kim really had the difficult job, and she handled it like a pro. Thank you Kim, for gathering all the reports and compiling them for our Cabinet meetings, typing all those minutes, and handling our correspondence. Many thanks are necessary for all the work you did helping with the District Convention.
District Treasurer Chuck worked like a champ in the back room making sure all the dues were collected and the bills were paid. Thank you PDG Chuck, it was such a load off my mind to know you were there, unseen, keeping the books for us and handling those grants!
Thank you to so many others working in the background to help our clubs be up to date on what is happening. Lion, now 2nd VDGE, Mike Walker with the News and Views and other important information that needs sending to all the clubs. Our Zone Chairs, Lions Wayne Garland, Connie Emmons, Lisa Grooms, Wendy Cain, and Fred Miller. DGE Millie and 1st VDGE Paulette also served as their Region Chairs. 48 Lions served as Chairpersons over our District Committees. Please forgive me, but for the sake of space I won’t list their names.
I also want to thank all you Club Presidents, Vice Presidents, Secretaries and Treasurers. Your leadership in steering your club is the most important position in the district. As in the workings of the District, there are also many Lions serving a myriad of offices and committees. Thank you all for doing what is necessary to serve your clubs and communities.
Lastly, I want to thank the rest of those Lions, who served their communities. Without you…… well, you know. Many thanks all!
Carol McDonald, District Governor
