District Governor Brandon’s Share – November-December 2018
Lions,
It’s December – which means we are officially half way through our Lions year. It has been such an honor to serve you all during this term. I’m proud to say that by nearly every metric available, our district is succeeding. I will add that, if you have not registered for the District Convention yet, it is imperative that
you do. We already have nearly 50 rooms reserved at the hotel, and our block is close to full already!
I just returned from a week in England, where I was honored to be a faculty member on a Lions Clubs Learning Symposium. The other guest faculty member was from Denmark! All of the attendees were Lions for less than five years, and the content was something that I would like to see done here in Tennessee.
Clubs across our District are having their holiday parties this month. These are some of my favorite events in our association because it highlights the true friendships that are made in clubs.
The Christmas spirit was in full display at the recent Powell Lions Christmas Parade. I joined the club to hand out candy and fidget spinner toys to the hundreds of children in the crowd. I handed one of the toys to a young child in the crowd who looked up at me with the biggest smile and said “wow – a fidget spinner! This is all that I wanted for Christmas!” It touched me that something we were handing out hundreds of didn’t just make a child’s day, but seemed to make her whole holiday.
This just highlights what we as Lions do – serve others. From eyeglasses and hearing aids to toys, Lions are helping those regardless of their needs.
From my family to yours – have a wonderful holiday season.
In Lionism,
Brandon
