District Governor Millie’s Memo – September 2020
Dear District 12N Lions,
I am greatly appreciative of the many ways in which District 12N Lions are continuing to “Serve” their Communities safely during the Covid 19 rollercoaster.
As I have been visiting and hearing from Clubs, I am truly inspired by the creativity of the Lions in District 12N. It is so encouraging to hear people say, “We have an event that we want to continue. Now with social distancing, we need to come up with a way to do that safely so let’s try this and see if it works.” Then they figure out a way to accomplish the mission.
Clubs are still doing vision screening and helping people with glasses. They are having virtual Turtle Derby’s, live golf tournaments, and meals either with limited seating and/or take out only. They are helping their local schools with school supplies and their food banks either with donations or when possible in person. One Club does “Drop and Dash” deliveries to an elderly housing site with the assistance of their grandchildren. They have boxes of needed food and staples, put them on the porch, either knock on the door or ring the bell, then take off so as to do a contactless delivery. I’m sure there are many other ways of Serving that the Lions in District 12N have creatively accomplished that I have not listed here.
For other ideas visit http://tnlions.org/member-resources/service-ideas and share what your Club is doing with other Clubs either through News & Views or at your Zone Meetings. All of this exemplifies that as Lions “We Serve” and “Where there is a need there is a lion”.
Sincerely,
Millie Burke, DG
