District Governor Rich’s Post – June 2023
‘BETWEEN THE LIONS’
As I prepare my final article as 12N DG, the $64,000 Lions question is ‘where did the year go’?
Our club activities are stronger than ever post-COVID, we have added 79 new members to date, we have added a new Leo Club, we completed our 3rd Annual Food Packing event, and more clubs are meeting in person and providing hybrid ZOOM coverage for those unable to attend. Our strengths continue to be the dedication of the men and women Lion volunteers who give unselfishly of their time and their money to make a difference in their respective communities. A mighty ‘Lions Roar’ to each and every one of you. I know that you will redouble your efforts as we welcome DGE Frank McCall, 1st VDGE Keltie Kerney and 2nd VDGE Nathanael Hughes.
The final month of this Lion’s year is a sprint to the finish: ALL CLUBS must complete the proper paperwork, pay district and international dues in a timely manner, update your Constitution and By-Laws to reflect the LCI changes, specifically the dues increase, attend the necessary training, update directory info, increase membership, embrace technology changes, involve community businesses and schools and, finally, post photos of your events.
The biggest ‘Thank You’ to CC Paulette Bailey and Treasurer, PDG Chuck Bailey for their work on the Monthly News & Views PLUS their regular Lions duties; Secretary Extraordinaire Kim Osborne (and the behind the scenes work of Jim McFarland, Terry Aparicio, Chuck Osborne, Connie Emmons, Clare & Dave Crawford) were invaluable.
To my fellow DG comrades John Hughey, Patrick Scott, Fred Mundt and Linda Maggart: Our forecasts may not have been 100% but our hearts and efforts were 110%. Thank you for your part in my journey.
Things end but memories last forever.
DG Rich Wilson
