District Governor’s Message – August 2014
Message from DG Ed Gibbons
Fellow Lions,
I have thoroughly enjoyed my first month of serving as your District Governor. From installing the new officers in the Dandridge, Greeneville and Fountain City Lions Clubs, to playing in the fundraiser golf tournament in Dandridge, it has been a mix of delightful duties. When I read your monthly membership reports, not only was I impressed with all the activities of each club, I was proud as well! All of you are truly living up to our motto “We Serve”. Thank you for getting our name out as the world’s largest service club organization.
Let me share some information some of you may need. First of all, if you are a Club needing White Cane flyers, please contact Second Vice District Governor Paulette Bailey. She has the flyers in generic form or she can send them to you via email allowing you to print the flyers with your club information. Her email address is ladipee@aol.com. Thank you Second VDG Paulette. Also, Second VDG Paulette and PCC Dick Kulp have been working feverously on the District Directory changes. I am happy to report it has been completed and in the hands of PDG Ken Moffett. I will be sending the next version by email in the next few weeks to all Club Presidents, Secretaries, and Treasurers. You will then be able to print your own copy. PDG Ken will have the directory on our website by the time you read this.
Let me remind you the USA/Canada Leadership Forum is coming up September 11-13 in San Juan, Puerto Rico and Theresa and I will be attending. If you have never attended this Forum, let me encourage you to put it on your Bucket List. This Forum offers informative classes for individual leadership growth as well as skills for collectively guiding your club.
As you plan and progress this year, please keep in mind all of our District Challenges:
- Strengthen the Pride Through Service
- Strengthen the Pride Through Membership
- Strengthen the Pride by Strengthening your Club (CEP)
- Strengthen the Pride Through Leadership
- Strengthen the Pride Through Partnerships
- Strengthen the Pride Through Rededication
- Strengthen the Pride Through Giving (LCIF)
- Strengthen the Pride Through Creativity
- Strengthen the Pride Through Courage and Conviction
Let me remind you to send me your Club goals for the year. Some of you have already responded. Remember, I am asking for (1) membership growth, (2) a new service project, and (3) a date your Club will enroll in the Club Excellence Program.
Thank you for all you are doing for Lionism ,
— DG Ed
