District Governor Brandon’s Share – June 2019
Lions,
Writing this message is so surreal to me. It’s hard to believe that, after a year of serving as your District Governor, that this will be my last message to you all in this office. This year has been more rewarding than I could have ever imagined. Every single goal that we set at the beginning of the year has been accomplished, and I would like to highlight a few:
- Leading the State of Tennessee in growth – we are currently at a +30 new members for the year!
- Being a national leader in donations to our Foundation, raising over $50,000 and having a Model Club.
- Chartering a new Lions Club AND a new Leo Club in our District.
- The largest District Convention in over a decade, with well over 200 people in attendance from more than 15 states.
With all of these accomplishments, though, I would have never dreamed that my year would end helping my own community recover from a natural disaster. A week ago, my hometown of LaFollette was hit with devastating floods. Lions were some of the first people helping to open up emergency shelters, and the
District Emergency Fund was directed to help the area. Because of Lions Clubs work, we were able to make sure that 15 people had a place to sleep in a new transitional house after they lost everything in the floods.
This year has been rewarding in nearly every way imaginable. I want to thank each and every one of you for giving me this opportunity to serve. These years of training have made me a better Lion, friend, and leader. This has been the greatest honor of my life, and something I will forever treasure.
Your friend,
-Brandon
