District Governor’s Message – July 2015
From the DG’s Desk
Aloha, Lions of District 12-N!
I’m currently writing you from the Lions International Convention here in Honolulu, Hawaii. Some 10,000 Lions from across the world attended. Jackie and I met some wonderful folks, and made friendships that will last a lifetime. It was great to hear firsthand about the work other Lions are doing in their districts and counties. Lions are strong across the world!
Our newly elected International President, Dr. Jitsuhrio Yamada, is a colorful person. Despite some minor difficulties with English, he was still able to deliver three incredible speeches in English. His presidential theme of “Dignity. Harmony. Humanity” is supported by central elements of peace, hope, determination, teamwork, and unity through service. This new theme was apparent throughout the convention.
As always – membership was on the frontlines of nearly every training session. Membership is so vital for our organization. We know that wherever there is a need, there is also a Lion. We must recruit the best of the best to continue performing service.
To stand behind my dedication to getting members – we are going to get a little messy. From July 1st 2015 through January 31st of 2015, the club with the most net gain in membership will be able to pie me in the face! That’s right – it’s going to get messy. Oh, and no worries…the pies will be furnished!
I’m excited to join you and your club in this year’s dedication to service. I know it will be a GREAT year. We have a great team in the 12-N Cabinet. Please, let us know how we can help you. I’m looking forward to visiting your club. See ‘ya soon!
