WEDNESDAY, JULY 4, 2012—Mark your calendars!
The Norris Lions Club brings you the 44th Annual Norris Day celebration in downtown Norris.
Running enthusiasts can begin the day with the Firecracker Road Run sponsored by the Norris Recreation Commission. Later the children’s Dog Show will be held on the Norris Commons, followed by the (one-mile) Fun Run. No one will want to miss the children’s Big Wheel Race followed by the Water Balloon Toss and the Water-ball Battles.
One of the highlights of Norris Day is the delicious barbecue dinner. You’ll find these barbecue pork and chicken dinners served by the Norris Lions Club in the Norris Middle School cafeteria from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Tickets for the dinners will be on sale in front of the Norris Post Office prior to July 4th as well as in the cafeteria that day. Proceeds from the ticket sales will fund many of the community projects supported by the Norris Lions Club each year.
Stop by the booths you’ll see on the Norris Commons and on the grounds of the Norris Middle School where many of our community organizations will have displays. This is an excellent way to learn more about their activities and how they serve us.
The evening program beginning at 6:30 p.m. will be held in the Norris Lions Community Pavilion. At this time, a special organization will be recognized that exemplifies the best tradition of serving others. Then, Norris Day concludes with a fireworks display on the Norris Commons, an event funded by the Norris Fire Department and the Norris Lions Club.
There’s no better way to spend the 4th of July than Norris Day!
