Visitation Program
District 12-N Visitation Program
The Lions District 12-N Visitation Program was established for the purpose of encouraging Lions Club members to meet and interact with members from different Lions Clubs. This may be through visits to other Clubs, participation in other Lions Club projects, and/or attendance at Lions functions beyond your home Lions Club.
The benefits of this program include, but certainly are not limited to:
- Expanding your network of friends among other Lions Club members;
- Sharing ideas, challenges and success; and
- Encouraging collaboration among Lions and between Lions Clubs.
Eligible Members:
All Lions who are members of District 12-N Lions Clubs are eligible to participate in the Visitation Program.
Functions Considered as a Visitation:
Any Lions function not planned and conducted by your home Lions Club. These include (but are not limited to) attendance at: other Lions Club meetings or projects, Zone Meetings, District functions, State or International events, Leadership training, working projects supported by Lions beyond the club level (i.e. Eyeglass Recycling Center, Remote Area Medical, etc.).
Eligible Visitations:
Any visit to another Lions Cub or Lions Function (other than your home Club) is eligible unless you are being reimbursed by Lions Clubs International (LCI) or District 12-N for attending the event as an official duty of the association.
Examples:
- A District Governor’s (DG’s) Official Visit to a Lions Club is NOT eligible. The DG is reimbursed by LCI for expenses for official duties.
- A Zone Chair’s visit to a Lions Club in his/her Zone IS eligible. This is an official duty, but the Zone Chair is not reimbursed by LCI or the District.
- A first-timer’s attendance at the Lions Learning Retreat IS eligible. The attendee may receive a scholarship from District 12-N, but it is not an official duty.
Reminder – As a common courtesy and smart planning (due to changing meeting logistics and meal arrangements) members intending to visit another Lions Club should contact a member of the Lions Club in advance.
Procedure:
- The program will generally run from July 1 to June 30 each year.
- For the 201-2012 Lions Year, visitations for events from July 1, 2011 to May 15, 2012 will be considered.
- Upon attending a Lions function eligible for a Visitation, a Lions member will record and submit the visitation in one of three ways:
- Completing the online Visitation form on this page;
- Sending an email to the Visitation Chair at: visits@tnlions.org with the following information: your name, your Lions Club, date of visit, and description of event; or
- Completing a hard copy of the form and mailing it to: Lions Visitation Chair, 6812 Hunters Trail, Knoxville, TN 37921-1073. This data can be collected and sent monthly by the individual Lion or Club Secretary
- The Visitation Chair will keep a tally of number of visits by participating Lions Members, which can also be rolled up by Club.
- This is not a Contest. All Lions Members participating will be recognized.
- A list of Visitation Program participants will be published in the News & Views periodically.
- A list of Visitation Program participants for the current Lions Year will be published on the District Web Site.
- A special recognition for Lions achieving a certain number of Visitations is planned at the conclusion of the Lions year. This is still to be determined based on extent of participation in the program and available “awards” funds.
