In 2011, Lions Club International President Wing-Kun Tam challenged the Lions of the world to undertake a program to plant 1,000,000 trees word wide.  The campaign did not stop at the end of President Tam’s term but has continued unabated.

The latest report indicates that to date 9,877,906 trees have been planted around the globe with 592,486 being planted in the United States.

Recently the Kingsport Lions Club has contributed to this program by planting 100 bald cypress trees near the Kingsport Soccer Fields on Sullivan Garden Parkway and another 100 white pines along Stone Drive adjacent to Jackson School.  These tress should provide shade and oxygen production for decades to come.
