Fall 2019 Eyeglass Recycling Work Trip Scheduled
The Lions District 12-N Fall 2018 trip to the Virginia Lions Sight Foundation Recycling Center in Roanoke, VA is scheduled for Saturday, October 12, 2019.
Recent changes in collection and sorting: The Center is no longer able to reuse bi-focal or tri-focal lenses. There just isn’t enough demand. Please DO continue to send those to Roanoke, as the Center recycles the metal to pay for expenses.
As in the past, Lions will meet at the Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center (501 Elm Avenue) around 8:30 am. We’ll work, have lunch, work some more, and head back to East Tennessee around 3:00 p.m. It’s always a fun (and rewarding) time sorting, cleaning, reading, and packaging used eyeglasses for beneficial reuse!
The 12-N Lions are the stars of the Center: we get more done and do a better job than any of the other groups up there! Let’s have a great turnout, and show the true Volunteer spirit of 12-N Lions.
If you would like more information about the work day (logistics, hotel recommendations, etc.) or have glasses that need hauled to the Center, please contact Lion Harry Ennis at hrennis@chartertn.net or (H) 423-239-7681.
